Steps to Natural Living

Now what kind of informational site would we be if we didn't have atleast a small list of tips for you? In this article, you will receive 10 steps towards a Natural Lifestyle!

Step 1. Natural Food

Of course this one is first on the list, probably because it is the easy to accomplish. Most major stores carry a wide variety of food products made mostly or entirely of organic/natural/vegan recipes. Even though these major stores carry them, I would first recomend spending your money with local businesses. You can also check your local farmers markets, normally there is one within 30 mins or so from anywhere. Choosing to shop locally shows that you support your local economy and it helps against the fight on oil and energy use because your products are traveling thousands of mile just to reach your dinner table.

Step 2. Natural Clothing

It can be tricky to find depending on your location. But keep an eye out for materials that contain fibers made from animals and insects include wool, silk, mohair, cashmere, camel hair and angora. Animal fibers usually have attributes not found in manmade or plant fibers.

Step 3. Personal Care
Remember, just because you are in a natural or organic shop, doesn't mean that the personal care product is made up of natural material. Be sure to check labels for natural ingredients that you recognize and understand. If you are not sure, then it never hurts to do a little research before you spend your money.

Step 4. Natural Cleaning

Many health food stores are great sources for green cleaning products. Try to get familiar with all of the different brands. Maybe spend a little time researching other blogs and forums to see what kind of results other people are having with these products. There are also a lot of do it yourself cleaning recipes that you can use different foods and other natural products that can be found right in your kitchen and mixed together.

Step 5. Insect Control and Repellants

Most folks don't realize that just because the EPA (environmental protection agency) recognizes a product as effective, doesn't mean it's been recognized as safe. So here is one that can be very important to do your research on, so that you don't harm the environment by spraying the wrong stuff!

Step 7. Natural Furnishings

Try to find furniture, matresses, blankets, and pillows that are made of natural materials like: organic wool and cotton. A great place to find these things is in organic based magazines and online stores.

Step 8. Home Improvements and Suplies
This one can be tough! At the least, try to find the most natural, least toxc materials when doing home improvements. A great place to find these types of things is The Environmental Home Center (online store).

Step 9. Natural Pet Care

A good rule of thumb is to never use any synthetic pesticides, and give your pets food that doesn't contain any animal byproducts. There are also some great natural pet shampoos out there, we offer some on our website as well!

Step 10. General Stuff

Just be sure to keep an eye out for natural and organic. Normally if it has a USDA Certified Organic label, then you are good. Most products that you can find in todays world have atleast one other natural version. You may just need to look a little harder.

Conclusion

This is just a few ways to help improve the way you live so that you can help improve our earth. We offer a few of these types of products that we talked about on our website www.GeauxNatural.com . Come by and do a little shopping and to find out more about natural ways of living.

Wheatgrass Juice

A new super food seems to be the new trend as consumers and health nuts are looking at wheatgrass. People can benefit from wheatgrass juice by taking multiple vitamins, complete amino acids, and minerals. Would you rather eat 2 whole pounds of vegetables or would you rather drink an ounce of wheatgrass juice and get the same nutritional value.

Other benefits of wheatgrass juice:
1.Great Appetite-Suppressant
2.Helps create a healthy metabolism and digestive system
3.Enriches the blood and helps maintain blood pressure = Great heart food
4.Boosts your immune system which can help prevent all types of disease
5.Helps offset other harmful chemicals in our body
6.Helps clean the liver
7.Improves skin and hair
AND SO MUCH MORE!

Where do I buy this super food?
Good question! For those of you in a rush, most juice bars in the city will carry it. It seems to be most popular online in a wide array of stores. Some local farmers markets can carry flats of wheatgrass for you to process yourself. Or you can do it the more natural & green way by growing your own!

*Note - apparently growing it at home takes a lot of effort and a whole lot of grass to make small amounts of juice. If you have the time, patience, and space it is definitely worth it!

So long until next time!
